Welcome to the Alternative Trade Association
The Alternative Trade Association (ATA) was formed in the summer of 2008 by a coalition of UK wholesalers. Its objective is to support retailers and counter misguided government initiatives that would be detrimental to our industry.
The ATA also promotes the development of responsible, sustainable enterprises that set a positive example for the growing cannabis industry.
We encourage responsible consumer engagement, environmental protection and a use of members businesses as a platform for social change.
The ATA is strictly non partisan and so cannot favour one particular wholesaler or distributor but works for the benefit of the industry as a whole.
Join the Alternative Trade Association
Membership of the ATA is free and open to all those who are in the trade and are willing to sign up to the principles of the organisation. In return members have access to a solicitor who has many years experience in this field and is able to offer professional and reliable advice. You will also receive ATA stickers, disclaimer notices and signs covering your statutory obligations that can be displayed on your premises and/or a banner linked to this site that you can display on your website.
Many members have found strength and confidence as a member of a trade association and felt empowered to stand up for their rights in law and to remain on the right side of it.
If you wish to be a member of the ATA you should contact your wholesaler in the first instance. If your wholesaler is unable to help you should consider contacting an alternative supplier or as a last resort email us here and we will respond as soon as we can.
Press and Media
Those with press and media enquiries can contact us by email here.
This organisation is at present run by volunteers who are sadly unable to run a full time office at this time.
Periodically we will add links to articles or opinion pieces appearing in the press that are particularly relevant to our members. You can find these here.
